Ilumya (tildrakizumab) is a biologic medicine used to treat moderate to severe plaque psoriasis in adults. It works by targeting a specific part of the immune system: it blocks interleukin-23 (IL-23p19), a protein that drives the inflammation responsible for psoriasis plaques.

Ilumya is given as an injection under the skin (subcutaneously) by a healthcare professional or, after training, by yourself.
The standard dosing schedule is:
Rotate injection sites (thigh, abdomen, or upper arm). Do not inject into areas where skin is red, bruised, or affected by psoriasis.

If you miss an injection, inject as soon as you remember and then restart your 12-weekly schedule from that date. Contact your dermatologist if you are unsure.

An overdose is unlikely in clinical use. If you believe you have injected more than prescribed, contact your doctor.

How quickly will my psoriasis improve?
Many people begin to see improvement within 12 to 16 weeks, with continued improvement over the first year of treatment. Clinical studies showed around 60 to 70 percent of patients achieved near-clear or completely clear skin after two years of treatment.
Do I need blood tests while on Ilumya?
Ilumya does not require routine blood monitoring in the same way as some other biologics. Your dermatologist will review your skin response at follow-up visits. Screening for infections such as TB is done before starting.
