What Is Letrozole® (ARX-Letrozole

ARX-LETROZOLE® is commonly used in fertility treatments to induce ovulation in women with ovulatory disorders, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). It works by reducing estrogen levels in the body, which stimulates the release of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinising hormone (LH). This promotes the growth and release of a mature egg, increasing the chances of conception.

It is also used off-label in controlled ovarian stimulation protocols for Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) cycles, such as in vitro fertilisation (IVF).

Popular FAQ

Can ARX-LETROZOLE® be used during pregnancy? ARX-LETROZOLE® is not intended for use during pregnancy, as its role is specifically to support ovulation before conception. Once pregnancy is confirmed, this medication is no longer needed and could potentially affect the developing baby. If you suspect you may be pregnant while using ARX-LETROZOLE®, contact your doctor immediately for advice.

How does ARX-LETROZOLE® help with fertility? ARX-LETROZOLE® works by temporarily lowering estrogen levels in the body. This stimulates the pituitary gland to release hormones that encourage the ovaries to produce and release mature eggs. For women with ovulation challenges, such as those caused by polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), ARX-LETROZOLE® can be an effective part of a treatment plan.

How long does it take for ARX-LETROZOLE® to stimulate ovulation? For most women, ovulation occurs within 5 to 10 days after completing the 5-day course of ARX-LETROZOLE®. Your fertility specialist may use blood tests or ultrasounds to monitor your response and timing during treatment.

Can I use ARX-LETROZOLE® while breastfeeding? ARX-LETROZOLE® is not recommended for breastfeeding women because it may pass into breast milk and potentially affect the baby. If you are breastfeeding and considering fertility treatments, consult your doctor for alternative options.

What should I do if I experience side effects? If you experience mild side effects such as headaches or nausea, these are often temporary and manageable. However, your comfort is important, so let your doctor know about any symptoms during your next visit. If you notice unusual or severe symptoms, such as chest pain or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention promptly. Your healthcare team is here to support you.

Can I drink alcohol while taking ARX-LETROZOLE®? It is best to avoid alcohol while using ARX-LETROZOLE®, as it can intensify certain side effects like dizziness or fatigue. Staying hydrated and maintaining a healthy lifestyle during treatment will help your body respond effectively.

What should I do if I miss a dose? If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is close to the time of your next scheduled dose. In that case, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one. If you’re unsure, your fertility clinic is just a call away to provide guidance.
